For suction cups to work properly, a vacuum must exist between the cup and the wall. Uneven or bumpy surfaces leave gaps for air to enter and escape. Placement on glass or smooth ceramic tile will offer the most secure fit.

No matter how smooth, dirty tiles are not a good surface to provide suction. Scrub the placement area and rinse until it is squeaky clean and then allow the surface to completely air dry.

Position the suction cup in the desired position and apply firm pressure for at least 15 seconds. Allow it to sit for 24 hours before use.

If needed, a very thin layer of petroleum jelly applied to the mounting surface will enhance the suction strength.
